Magazine - Reference - Reading Area

Library - EntryWhen you first enter the library, you come into a bright, many-windowed room that contains our reference and periodical collections.
On our two periodical racks we display magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and bulletins of a variety of topics. The drawers under one of these racks contain copies of catalogs of area universities and community colleges.

The Reference Collections consists of a set of 4 bookcases and 2 file cabinets. These contain a variety of reference titles, such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, and atlases, as well as consumer information provided by federal and state agencies. We maintain a collection of each year's Annual Town & School Reports as well as other documents of interest to Fairlee community members. Our Vertical File collection also contains material on Vermont, Fairlee, and other topics of consumer information.

When it is tax season, our selection of federal and state tax forms is out on display in this area. For those forms that we don't have on hand, there is a master- copy binder of federal tax forms that may be copied for your use.

Our new copier is in this area, too. Copies are $0.15 each, including tax forms. Students may receive up to ten pages free for copies needed for school projects.

We have a large bulletin board here, where we post local community events, and we also have a ring binder for events listings that are not local and won't fit on the bulletin board.

Our collection of jigsaw puzzles is shelved on the back side of the reference bookcases. These may be borrowed or worked on at the library. There are also 2 tables and some chairs in this area so that you can sit and read, work on a jigsaw puzzle, or do research.
